We strongly advise you to use our professional make-up and hair service, as MUAH isn’t something you really want to trim from your budget. A talented artist’s touch is the foundation of a great head shot.

Ensuring an even skin tone and concealing imperfections is very important, and it needs to be done in a way that achieves a natural look. As any agent will tell you, the most important thing is the end result looks like you! Our dedicated MUAH Team really know their stuff.

Please arrive for your shoot with clean, slightly moisturized skin, and with dry hair that’s been washed the night before. Oh, and we also recommend not applying fake-tan or experimenting with any new skin products or facials in the week leading up to your shoot.

GUYS

When it comes to make-up, it’s really up to you, and of course your budget. You can save
yourself a few dollars by doing two things:

(1) learning to apply some powder yourself and bringing it with you on the day. If you’re not sure what to get then you can always try asking a salesperson to help you pick out the right color, and i’m sure they can give you a few tips on how to apply.

(2) bring with you a chapstick! Not the glossy kind, just a simple matte chapstick. It makes an enormous difference on how healthy or dried out your lips will look!

If your skin isn’t at it’s best at the moment, or you just want the extra help, then go ahead and ask to book one of our professional make-up artists. They’re also wonderfully skilled in the hair department, but do bring along your own favorite products with you also.

MAKE UP STYLES

A session typically includes up to two Make Up “Styles”. This works perfectly for about 90+% of our sessions.

We think of a “Style” as a dramatic shift in the make-up’s aesthetic. For example, for most Women we divide an Actor Headshot session up in to two phases make-up wise:

• a first phase aiming for a more natural / glowing / youthful aesthetic that’s great for the lower end of your age range, more casual or grittier roles
• a second phase with bolder eye make-up, perhaps a change in the hair, potentially more contouring etc to aim for the older end of your age range, more confident & polished characters such as professionals or femme fatales etc

Therefore, for anything more unique or complex that you require there may incur an additional fee of $55 per Style. If in any doubts about your specific needs, just be sure to ask us about it during your pre-shoot phone consultation.
