The Process
1. Ok, so now you’ve researched several photographers and chosen john anthony sutton to look after your headshot needs. Awesome! You’ve made a wise choice.
2. The next step is to choose a package….
ACTORS
If you’re very new to the acting industry, then two looks is often just what you need, a theatrical look and a commercial look. Also, if you just need a simple update two looks will do just fine. Four looks or more is great for the actor who’s at a place where they can take on a wide variety of character types and needs to experiment, or for the veteran actor – the actor that knows what roles he or she excels in. So maybe it’s the law enforcement type, the mom, the working-class hero, the elite schemer or the girl next door. The added looks are the looks you know you’ll nail when the roles comes up for audition.

REALTORS & BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS
If this is a corporate headshot session, two looks will usually do just fine.
If you run your own business and perhaps are developing a website with a detailed product built around your skillset and philosophy then four looks might be a very wise investment. Shooting a few more colors and outfit ideas can give you plenty more scope for your branding and publishing needs.
3. Now you’ve read our shoot guide section here, you’ve called us with questions, emailed us with a previous headshot to look at if you have one, and feel confident you made the right decision. 4. Now all you need to do is give us a call or email us to schedule your session and pay your deposit. It’s that easy! You can also Book Online if you prefer.
5. After you’ve been scheduled be sure to take care of yourself right up to the day of your session. Eat healthy, drink lots of water and get in some exercise when you can. It’s important to have a healthy mind, body and spirit when you arrive. Be sure to get lots of sleep the night before your session.
6. The next step is heading to our Studio in Hollywood, conveniently right off the 101 Freeway. We have ample FREE PARKING but it is rather important that you arrive on time, so please take traffic into consideration.
7. If you have booked our make-up artist be sure to arrive with a clean (and perhaps smiling) face. If not, then we’re not a production line so we don’t expect you to arrive camera ready, make-up perfect, your first outfit already on and ready to go so we can kick you out again asap! That is NOT our style! We’ll provide you a safe comfortable area to unpack your things, and to touch up your make-up and hair, before we come up with a plan and begin your shoot.
Please avoid logos and busy patterns. This is important. For further clothing advice see our What to Bring page.
The camera really does not like clothes with logos or busy patterns. It does love bold colors like blue, red, green, brown or even neon if you want. It can sometimes be wise to avoid white, which itself can be a little distracting. So here’s the best idea, bring several options to choose from! Bring your entire wardrobe if you have to, we’ll help you carry it inside and then together we’ll pick out the looks that best suit your needs.
8. Now we’re ready to go! You’ve got your make-up on, your outfit is looking sharp and you’re already smiling from our warm greeting, so let’s start shooting!
This is the easy part, just be yourself! Have a good time, we’ll be moving you around the Studio guiding your every step with a strong plan in mind. And we also shoot with a very organic, fluid conversational style. Nothing is cookie-cutter, stiff or overly-posed here. Plus, we keep shooting until we get it right! You’ll be relaxed after only a few minutes and we’re so easy to get along with those nerves will be long gone. We take pride at putting people at ease, and getting the best out of them. You’ll see
9. After the shoot we’ll run you through how to Download and you view your photos at home, and how to share them with your Reps.
10. At this time you must pay the cost of your package in full, minus of course the value of your pre-paid deposit. We are pleased to inform that we do accept payment in both cash and on credit cards. Photographers are typically paid upon rendering their services, and we’re so confident that we’ll render you completely happy with your headshot experience that we offer a Happiness Guarantee.
11. Now jump in your car, boat or jet plane and go celebrate! Go treat yourself and relax! Within a few days of your shoot we email you a link so that you can download your Headshots in all their glory in a matter of minutes.
Please note, we will never sell your images or distribute them. We may use one or two for promotional purposes on our website, flyers or facebook/instagram – but that’s it, and we always ask you first.
